If there is one thing I learned from the catering business.....it is that EVERYONE can bond over food shared! Now...some foods are liked by most, others by some....but nevertheless...it does bring people together and fellowship can begin.
"Breaking bread with others is a way of sharing something intimate-sharing food leads to the sharing of words and the sharing of hearts." Lisa Cesarez, MSW
This quote is important to you, no matter what business you are in....let me explain:
1. Try to do more networking over a meal or coffee and pastries. Something about taking in sustenance together builds a stronger connection.
2. At your next brainstorming session or team leaders meeting, serve refreshments. People are more willing to share if they are more relaxed and who knows what ideas may emerge.
3. Charity FundRaisers: be sure and have refreshments at all meetings of volunteers. After all, you are asking a lot of them...make sure they know how much you appreciate their efforts!
4. More and more we are seeing B to B Social Networking Events. They bring people together over food and drink for some informal networking in a more relaxed setting. If held at a restaurant, the management will usually offer some specials for your group at a reduced or no cost feature for the exposure.
Now...in this same mode of thinking...I would like to share a FAVORITE recipe with you!
It is tried and true, perfect for the summertime...and also for a thank you gift for someone special!
Strawberry Bread
3 cups all purpose flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. soda
1 TBSP. cinnamon
2 cups sugar
4 eggs, slightly beaten
1 1/4 cups salad oil
2 10 oz. partially thawed frozen strawberries
1 1/4 cups chopped nuts (pecans or walnuts either) These are optional and can be omitted.
Sift together in large mixing bowl flour, salt, soda, cinnamon, and sugar. Make a well in the center and add eggs and oil. Stir in strawberries and nuts until mixture is moistened. Bake in greased and floured Bread tins or Loaf pans at 350 until done, usually in 30 minutes or less depending on size of pans.
