Breaking Bread Together

If there is one thing I learned from the catering business.....it is that EVERYONE can bond over food shared! Now...some foods are liked by most, others by some....but nevertheless...it does bring people together and fellowship can begin.

"Breaking bread with others is a way of sharing something intimate-sharing food leads to the sharing of words and the sharing of hearts." Lisa Cesarez, MSW

This quote is important to you, no matter what business you are in....let me explain:

1. Try to do more networking over a meal or coffee and pastries. Something about taking in sustenance together builds a stronger connection.
2. At your next brainstorming session or team leaders meeting, serve refreshments. People are more willing to share if they are more relaxed and who knows what ideas may emerge.
3. Charity FundRaisers: be sure and have refreshments at all meetings of volunteers. After all, you are asking a lot of them...make sure they know how much you appreciate their efforts!
4. More and more we are seeing B to B Social Networking Events. They bring people together over food and drink for some informal networking in a more relaxed setting. If held at a restaurant, the management will usually offer some specials for your group at a reduced or no cost feature for the exposure.

Now...in this same mode of thinking...I would like to share a FAVORITE recipe with you!
It is tried and true, perfect for the summertime...and also for a thank you gift for someone special!

Strawberry Bread

3 cups all purpose flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. soda
1 TBSP. cinnamon
2 cups sugar
4 eggs, slightly beaten
1 1/4 cups salad oil
2 10 oz. partially thawed frozen strawberries
1 1/4 cups chopped nuts (pecans or walnuts either) These are optional and can be omitted.

Sift together in large mixing bowl flour, salt, soda, cinnamon, and sugar. Make a well in the center and add eggs and oil. Stir in strawberries and nuts until mixture is moistened. Bake in greased and floured Bread tins or Loaf pans at 350 until done, usually in 30 minutes or less depending on size of pans.

Raising my cup of Strawberry Green Tea to your success,

You Look MAAHHVELOUS!

As I begin my journey to my hairstylist for an overhaul (color, cut, style, etc), I can not help but smile with anticipation. This is a treat that everyone should experience as having a professional make you look your best is priceless! When you leave the salon, you are smiling, your confidence level is soaring, you feel you can take on the world...and truth be told, you can! Now...if we could just translate this into the business world....hmmm. Well...the good news is you can! By practicing 3 daily habits, you can transform yourself everyday at home. How? 1. Read the likes of John Maxwell (my personal favorite) as he is both uplifting and real about leadership:how to develop into one, grow, and mentor and foster others. 2. Daily devotion time: Pray, give thanks, and turn over your cares and concerns to God. After all, he formed you for a purpose. It is said that we all have everything inside us for our mission in life. We just need development. As a person undergoing that develop...

You Say You Want a Revolution?

"Revolution" is one of my ALL TIME favorite Beatle tunes. Actually, for several reasons...love the music, love the words, and love the idea!  The word revolutionary denotes something new, groundbreaking, and normally carries a positive tone...something to look forward to...better than before...full of hope for the future! Just think if you were one of the first to learn about GOOGLE, MICROSOFT, APPLE, etc....and were in on the ground floor...what an opportunity...and yes, certainly, REVOLUTIONARY! Well...I would like to introduce you to a revolutionary new concept just beginning TODAY, August 15, 2012....in all of the United States! It is called Clean Nation. Clean Nation offers every consumer the chance to change the environment in a revolutionary way by erasing their carbon footprint one megawatt at a time (a megawatt is 1000 kilowatts) and support the production of renewable energy sources of wind, solar, and hydro...which creates jobs right here in the United States! Making A Difference

Doesn't everyone want to feel like they are making a difference in this world? I know I do! I have met some powerful people this past week who are DEFINITELY making a difference in the world by mentoring, helping the disabled, helping non-profits raise much needed funds, helping restore local treasures, and helping heal broken relationships. What are YOU doing to  make a difference? Need a place to plug in? There is a Senior Job and Volunteer Fair coming up on Tuesday, September 12 in Frisco from 10-3. Maybe you attend and find a place that speaks to you so that you can start volunteering. Maybe your company is looking for some new talent and could look to hire active adult seniors with tons of life experience. This wonderful event is being held at the Frisco Senior Center and is sponsored by The Senior Services Alliance of Frisco, a group of the Frisco Chamber of Commerce. Check this out at www.frisocchamberofcommerce.com Our firm is also sponsoring the Silent Auction Tent a...
