You Look MAAHHVELOUS!

As I begin my journey to my hairstylist for an overhaul (color, cut, style, etc), I can not help but smile with anticipation. This is a treat that everyone should experience as having a professional make you look your best is priceless! When you leave the salon, you are smiling, your confidence level is soaring, you feel you can take on the world...and truth be told, you can! Now...if we could just translate this into the business world....hmmm. Well...the good news is you can! By practicing 3 daily habits, you can transform yourself everyday at home. How? 1. Read the likes of John Maxwell (my personal favorite) as he is both uplifting and real about leadership:how to develop into one, grow, and mentor and foster others. 2. Daily devotion time: Pray, give thanks, and turn over your cares and concerns to God. After all, he formed you for a purpose. It is said that we all have everything inside us for our mission in life. We just need development. As a person undergoing that develop

In This Heat? Energy Saving Tips

Folks...it is HOT already...104 yesterday where I live and should be close to that today. Now...I am incredibly thankful...as LAST year there was an entire string of 100 degree days already this time and we are no where near that hot this year...yet! Since I am in the Energy biz, I have some Energy Saving Tips to deliver at my networking luncheon today, but started thinking about applying those tips to running a business in the Summer of 2012. Now...if you choose to believe all doom and gloom in the marketplace, that is obviously your choice. I say you are robbing yourself of opportunities because they generally do not knock (or you will not notice them) when negativity is dragging you downward. People are spending money every day...lots of businesses are flourishing and new ones beginning! If you truly want some of that business to come to you...then let's look at some Energy Savings Tips to help you. 1. Install a programmable thermostat to lower utility bills and manage your

To Act or Not To Act?

Today I was in my car, again listening to a SUCCESS Magazine DVD and Seth Godin was one of the contributors. He was talking about the importance of marketing NOW, not tomorrow...not next week...but NOW before any more time elapses. Is procrastination killing you? Do you feel if you send out some mass emails, print out some flyers, and mail out some postcards that you are done? How about if you buy some print ads in magazines? You've spent all your "marketing budget" so you must be done, right? Well...the world is changing so rapidly now that if you do not change your marketing strategy, you may not make it much longer. Ever heard that before? Want to change but don't know what to do? Well...the problem is not one that you can just throw money at UNLESS you hire a true professional to do it for you ( if you are interested...email me and I can recommend some very good ones ). But, if you want and need to do this yourself...just DO it...do not wait for the next new t

What's Your Story?

Yesterday, I was listening to a SUCCESS Magazine CD and one of the contributors was famous business coach Dan Sullivan. He had excellent advice for any entrepeneurs but one of his nuggets went farther than that...this is POWERFUL to any human being on the planet, in my humble opinion. When asked about the one piece of advice he would give any entrepeneur, here was his answer: Make a list of 10 people you would like in your company, on your team, to be mentors, etc...and invite them to breakfast, lunch, or dinner on YOU. Then....you simply ask them to tell you their life's story and DO NOT INTERRUPT EXCEPT TO ASK QUESTIONS!! Do not mention at all your business, what you are currently doing, your family, or anything....THIS MEETING IS STRICTLY ABOUT THEM!!! He said this is the most powerful tool he knows for anyone wanting to be successful. Everyone has a story, and truth be told, everyone wants to tell it...but no one seems to want to listen! He went further with this and said that

Happenstance? I think not!

Happenstance? I reposted in FB today a quote by Sheila Burke (love the name BTW) " We don't meet anyone by accident. Pay attention to the happenstance." I have seen this happen sooo many times in my life! I truly believe this with all my heart. You know the saying that goes around every so often...people come into your life for a moment, a day, a season or some...forever and they all have a reason. Some you need for something very specific...or YOU need to help THEM with something very specific and then they are gone seemingly by happenstance...but not really. They served their purpose with you and then "poof" they were gone. Others can become lifelong friends or soulmates that you can not imagine your life without! I was listening to a training video today and one of the questions asked went something like this. What if the next person that you met and engaged in conversation...who asked you about what you do...joined your organization and wound up making you

TGIF....Thankful For Second Chances and Third.....

Well...it is here....another weekend! Everyone loves the weekend...right??? What plans do you have? Going out? Working on home improvement projects? Since it is Summertime....maybe going to the beach or the pool? Cooking out? Does all of this sound good to you?  Perhaps you would like to do some or all of this, but you have to work all weekend. If you are in the Event Business, you know what I mean...Not only will you be working this weekend, but you are THANKFUL for the business or just that you HAVE a job! And this is definitely HIGH WEDDING SEASON....which means lots of business for venues, DJs, Florists,Videographers, Photographers, Caterers,  etc. Dealing with brides and their families is BIG BUSINESS for the Event Industry! Well...as I look forward to my weekend....I am THANKFUL FOR SECOND CHANCES! What do I mean by that? I just read a quote (paraphrased) "Sometimes Success is going from one failure to another until you get it right" Now...that means second, third,

Failure to Communicate

I was just sitting in a dark theatre eagerly awaiting "The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel" when, during the previews, there were some Classic films that were to be shown one night only coming up this summer. The preview would include maybe one line of this famous film that you would hopefully remember. The screen flashed "Cool Hand Luke" and, of course, this most famous line...."What we have here is a failure to communicate...." Who can forget this scene??? But...it got me to think...how true in life this saying is....how many marriages could have been saved, how many loves not lost...if only there would have been better communication? Now...since my entering into the world of network marketing....I am TRULY being shown the importance of communication every day in my new career. We hear all the time of stories where an individual is constantly being called a failure until they believe it themselves and, unless they are INCREDIBLY self motivated, will not ris
