You Look MAAHHVELOUS!

As I begin my journey to my hairstylist for an overhaul (color, cut, style, etc), I can not help but smile with anticipation. This is a treat that everyone should experience as having a professional make you look your best is priceless! When you leave the salon, you are smiling, your confidence level is soaring, you feel you can take on the world...and truth be told, you can! Now...if we could just translate this into the business world....hmmm.

Well...the good news is you can! By practicing 3 daily habits, you can transform yourself everyday at home. How?

1. Read the likes of John Maxwell (my personal favorite) as he is both uplifting and real about leadership:how to develop into one, grow, and mentor and foster others.
2. Daily devotion time: Pray, give thanks, and turn over your cares and concerns to God. After all, he formed you for a purpose. It is said that we all have everything inside us for our mission in life. We just need development. As a person undergoing that development phase right now, I am excited daily for the next leg of the journey!
3. Listen to positive, educational material in your car. You will be amazed at  how calm your commute can become and how poised you will be once you arrive.

In my former life as a caterer, I quickly learned about first impressions. The first bite you take of any food is with your eyes...so the set-up of any buffet, appetizer display or plate presentation needs to be spot on! That achieves the WOW factor that all event professionals strive for. But this takes additional planning and forethought to pull off, I can assure you. Also, you have to allow for any unforseen "challenges" which will undoubtedly arise at your venue. This takes a calm (on the outside) demeanor which can only develop over time and experience. Surround yourself with good people to learn from and to complement your skills and abilities. Always be willing to learn!

By just showing up everyday, armed with the three habits described above...you will be ahead of the competition by leaps and bounds! So go ahead and smile....after all...you look maahhvelous!!!!!

Here's to your success: I raise my glass of champagne,

  1. Wow, you and I are certainly on the same page today! What I just posted on my blog is basically the same thing - different words. I especially love your point #2. You ARE looking maahhvelouse today, and I'll bet there are a number of others looking equally as well thanks to your encouragement!

Reinvent Yourself

Hello again! It has been awhile, right? 5 years to be exact. WHEW! A lot has happened.... but what you need to know is that I am HAPPY and probably HAPPIER than I have ever been, at least as far as I can remember.... You see, I am HAPPY because of many reasons, not the least of which is because I am quite comfortable in my own skin. Yes, I am older and yes, I am considered a Senior now. WOW! Who ever thinks about what that will feel like? Actually, for the most part, I feel the same. I am a little slower now, although my life is very busy and I make people tired just reading my Facebook posts of all the events I attend. But, I notice I tire more easily, and crave more down time than before. I actually look forward to those days when I personally have nothing in addition to my work plans. Speaking of my work, I will update you on my current passion....I am the Director of Community Services for a law firm, Haiman Hogue, PLLC.  That title means that I plan EVENTS! Wow....I have c...

Recipe for Success

Along the way in my eight year journey with Tea 'n Mystery, I have learned many lessons, all of them the hard way...I can assure you! But one thing is clear...there is a TRUE recipe for success and it is true in ANY business venture that you start! Want my recipe for success? First...here are some things NOT to do.... 1.GO IT ALONE Think you are different? I did...I thought all these people who kept telling me to educate myself with reading from business leaders like John Maxwell, Jim Rohn, Brian Tracy, Tony Robbins, Steven Covey (who REALLY scared me...yes I admit it) just didn't know or understand what I was about! Surely, if they did...they would understand that I was different and did not need those books to succeed. I had the desire, the innate love of dealing with the public (which in my case translated into pleasing them at all costs to myself and the business), and was a great cook who could follow any recipe out there! Except the recipe that I needed most of all....t...
