Judy and Sheila's Excellent Adventure Day 7

Today began with a relaxing breakfast and a new plan!!! Our B&B was voted Number 1 in Santa Fe last year....and is Pueblo Bonito in case you were wondering or are planning a trip to Santa Fe any time soon. They are adobe cottages with full kitchens, a bedroom living area with futon and fireplace, private patios and charming ambience with a wonderful history!

New plan? We decided to explore Old Town Albuquerque and have lunch there at the historic Little Anitas and leave from there. We were soooo dreading the trip to Amarillo and so my husband called and suggested we go to Lubbock instead. Much nicer place...and not as bad a drive. So...here we are after a little googling...Judy is a master at reservations and we are at Arbor Inn and Suites which I would HIGHLY recommend as the room is huge, beautiful...this is every bit as large as a suite for a reasonable price. Well appointed with beautiful linens, met us with cookies and lemonade or tea, suggested dinner places right near by...etc!

Tomorrow...we head for home...sad to end this adventure but anxious to see our families and not live out of a suitcase (or Subaru) that we are constantly moving from place to place.
What a wonderful country we have seen, met all kinds of wonderful people...if you are depressed about the state of our country and feel that people are not friendly any more, etc. then take a road trip and you will see that is absolutely not true. Everyone has been so kind to us, gone out of their way to help us...to meet us and chat...and we have met all of these people from now at least 10 different countries we feel we are enriched because of these encounters. Only hope they feel the same.

Wonderful artisans we have met, wonderful new friends we have met, wonderful foods we have eaten, music we have enjoyed, art we have appreciated, natural beauty we have experienced and even a meteor crater we have seen.

We have challenged ourselves with hiking the Grand Canyon, Jeep offroading, but luxuriated at L'Auberge and Mesa Grille in Sedona...accommodations that are incredible, historical places and figures coming to life...even in Fort Sumner in New Mexico (must read if you do not know this story as we did not)...and the history of Albuquerque as well. But our challenges are so minor compared to our ancestors and our Native Americans...that it is overwhelming. We need to be strong as they were.

As we end our journey, we are still friends, even much closer than before...and will be sad but the wiser for this journey. I would recommend this to any friends who are adventurous and wish to learn from our land and our people what truly makes America great!

Lesson learned from today: We've been soaked to the skin, tired beyond belief, burning hot, exhausted, exhilarated, and now are relaxed...but shopping for souvenirs can be VERY tiresome and tedious...especially for small boys (whose mothers object to bows and arrows, guns and drums)! Bring a list for your trip of who and what you would like to bring back...also bring plenty of extra money and room in your Subaru for all these purchases so that you may complete all the items on your list!

Thank you for following along with us...it has been a pleasure to write a few of our experiences for your enjoyment!

Raising our glasses of chilled Chardonnay to you,

Sheila and Judy
Good night and Sweet Dreams

You Look MAAHHVELOUS!

As I begin my journey to my hairstylist for an overhaul (color, cut, style, etc), I can not help but smile with anticipation. This is a treat that everyone should experience as having a professional make you look your best is priceless! When you leave the salon, you are smiling, your confidence level is soaring, you feel you can take on the world...and truth be told, you can! Now...if we could just translate this into the business world....hmmm. Well...the good news is you can! By practicing 3 daily habits, you can transform yourself everyday at home. How? 1. Read the likes of John Maxwell (my personal favorite) as he is both uplifting and real about leadership:how to develop into one, grow, and mentor and foster others. 2. Daily devotion time: Pray, give thanks, and turn over your cares and concerns to God. After all, he formed you for a purpose. It is said that we all have everything inside us for our mission in life. We just need development. As a person undergoing that develop...

Memorial Day Recipe: Red, White and Blueberry Pie

When I think of Memorial Day weekend...I immediately think of sun, water (usually the pools open this weekend), BBQs, and Flags. This is a weekend to enjoy with family and friends, but to remember those who have gone before us as well. Here in the United States, we pause to remember those who gave their lives in service to our country on Memorial Day. I hear "Taps" playing in my head and see images of white crosses lining Arlington National Cemetary. This is a time of remembrance and to count our blessings as well. Hopefully, wherever you are, you have this tradition in one way or another. I have been very blessed in my life and as such...enjoy giving back now...whether in my own community, to disaster victims, to help others get back on their feet, and to raise funds for needed improvements to landmarks, etc. I especially enjoy helping raise funds for programs that offer a hand up, not a hand out to change people's lives forever. All that being said...when you are th...

Recipe for Success

Along the way in my eight year journey with Tea 'n Mystery, I have learned many lessons, all of them the hard way...I can assure you! But one thing is clear...there is a TRUE recipe for success and it is true in ANY business venture that you start! Want my recipe for success? First...here are some things NOT to do.... 1.GO IT ALONE Think you are different? I did...I thought all these people who kept telling me to educate myself with reading from business leaders like John Maxwell, Jim Rohn, Brian Tracy, Tony Robbins, Steven Covey (who REALLY scared me...yes I admit it) just didn't know or understand what I was about! Surely, if they did...they would understand that I was different and did not need those books to succeed. I had the desire, the innate love of dealing with the public (which in my case translated into pleasing them at all costs to myself and the business), and was a great cook who could follow any recipe out there! Except the recipe that I needed most of all....t...
